The cut of the diamond does not refer to the shape (oval, princess, radiant etc.) but rather how well the facets were cut and polished to maximize the brilliance and scintillation of the diamond.

Diamond carat weight is the measurement of how much a diamond weighs (1 carat= 200 milligrams). As the carat weight increases so does its rarity. Although the carat weight is important, it alone does not determine the diamonds value. The diamonds worth is the contribution of all the 4 C’s.

There are hundreds of different color diamonds, but when it comes to colorless diamonds there are only 17 which are graded by the D-Z color grade scale (D being flawless to Z being light yellow). The ideal goal is to have light pass through the diamond easily, meaning fewer inclusions within.

The diamond clarity is determined on the amount and the location of inclusions within. The scale ranges from Flawless to Imperfect 3. Although no diamond is 100% without imperfections, the fewer there are the more rare the diamond is.
